Passive voice is used when the focus is on the action. It is not important or not known, however, who or what is performing the action.
Example
If I say: My phone was stolen I focus on the fact that it was stolen. I don't know who did it.Some times sounds more polite to say: A mistake was made, than to blame someone specifically.
We also use passive voice when we don't want to acknowledge any personal responsibility. |
